Well, as i'm whipping my mk2 of the road after edition38 for amongst other things, a full colour change to be done myself..... i thought i'd document it's changes so far since i bought her.
Picked her up about 2 years ago, completely boggo standard on the outside, but fully poly bushed, 16v brakes with braided lines, re-built gearbox on G60 mounts, and a baffling folder full of reciepts from C+R in Nottingham. Also had freshly refurbed BBS RA's
Never having been a big fan of standard cars, the day i got it, threw on some 40mm lowering springs, german plates and a few other bits i had knocking about in the shed from previous cars....
Always been into slightly different wheels, so picked up some fully polished Merc S-class rims off the bay, for....£24.
Due to the massive issues with fitting 5x112 wheels to a 4x100 car, abandoned these for a very tidy profit, and spent the money, and a bit more on some coilies....
Changed the grill round a few times, never really happy with it to be honest...
Rolled round like this for a while, until the time for new tyres came round. Instead of wasting money on that, bought some polished porsche 928 rims, H+R adaptors and toyo proxes all round for a steal off E38....At some point around this time had a full stainless system built at welsh coast customs, to replace the standard exhaust.
Loved these wheels like a child, but hated keeping them clean, and the polished finish soon looked guff....Then went back to a painted grill badge, and red striped the grill...
At this point, had my favourite mod ever to date done...matt black checks on a gloss black roof. People still ask me when i had it done as they havent noticed it before...subtle indeed.
Getting well and truly sick of the state of the wheels now, so bought another set on e-bay, and painted them up in the wind tunnel that is my old man's garage...While at it, changed the front tyres to 40 profiles, to eliminate the ridiculous rubbing i was getting at anything more than quarter lock. A bonus of this is i could wind the coilies down even further, which is nice.
Looking nice now i think, and that's how she looks as of now, with a load of interior changes made that i don't have pictures of, including an ear bleeding install verified by all at BVF...Also i have de-wipered the boot, added black and silver pressed plates, a variety of back lights, currently on the old school non crystal M3's.

Tis a lush ride indeed, looks moody but friendly all at the same time. My fave mod is the rims too, they transform the car imo.
If I had another mk2 I'd want it to look like yours. _________________

cheers Stace, and you know what they say... once you go black you never go back.
She's not going to be black for that much longer though, i've got a cheeky little colour change up my sleeve, that should be either stunning, or really guff. I've certainly never seen it on a mk2 before....maybe for good reason. _________________

dunno mate. The one that came round the other night said he wasn't even going to knock the door next time he came round, just slap the fine on, which is nice of him. Community policing at it's best. I put the white and yellow german plates on for a couple of days then got these yesterday so hopefully he didn't come round before i went legal. _________________

i'm with you Gaz, but knowing from experience how devious and petty some cops can be, i decided to save myself the hassle. Even though i know i'm in the right, i'm still kind of in the wrong as i have been driving it with dodgy plates, and i wouldn'tput it past them to bring outa load of "sightings" in court. _________________
