Original quote taken from the CGTI Motorsport porn thread:

Righty ho then. Came across this again on the CGTI/SCN 'Ring trip, nice chat with the owner, and let the camera at it:

Nice wide track:

Engine bay - note Proflex dampers/canisters. Self made top mounts:

Schrick sump:

Extended steering column, owner sits in boot, sqs sequishift (sp?) sequential shifter....

.... operating Quaife six-speed dox gearbox. Note adapted 020 gearbox mount, which is possibly half 020, half 1100/1300 mount by the look of it.

Image

Pedal box on what looked like Wilwood pedals ie entire pedal kit:

Image

Home made front tubular wishbones, & what look like aluminium rear wishbone mounts, all in a custom width to give the wide track (driveshafts look OE so not sure which ones used - could be Mk2/3):

Image

Rose jointed bottom ball joints - seems to have missed a trick in dropping the pivot points, but maybe he didn't want to go there?

Image

And the rear track width increase is down to machined alloy backplate spacers.

All very nice and a top job I'd say.

Web page for some of the prep still on this Roma page http://www.romatuning.nl/projecten/ring%20mobielen.htm

Edit: and another page of pics http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=4OFFYVOG"

Well i was luck enough to go out in this while at the Nurburgring, i was a nice shade of white when i got out  , owner/driver was very humble and i laughed when he said "It is just a sh*tty old Golf" , driving skills were very impressive & we managed to ride quite a few kerbs (one causing an apologetic "sorry" when we were up high on 2 wheels :D ).

I didn't think we would be able to go around the corners at Nurby so fast in a Mk1.

Amazing package & another dream car ticked on my to do before you die list.
