Some of you may already know thats there's a new T4 in the club , i spent my Saturday afternoon lowering it , here's how .
Firstly jack up the front and remove the wheels (remember to use axle stands a T4 is alot of weight to have supported by your head )
Once up in the air locate these bolts (arrowed below) they are located just behind the fuel tank and theres one each side .

These alter the resting point of the front torsion arms , before getting stuck in with a spanner measure from the nut to the end of the thread on each side and note down the readings . To lower the van simply wind down the nut as a rough guide 10mm of thread = 20mm of lowering .
Here's one altered to give a 60mm drop at the wheels

The measurements on this van were 5 mm out side to side , this difference needs to be maintained once lowering has finished .
Shorter shocks are also an idea so whilst everthings up in the air locate the lower shock mounting point

The bolt doubles up as the antiroll bar mount , it'll need to be removed (20mm heads )
At the top there are 2 x 18mm fixings to be removed once done you'll be left with this

Remove the 16mm nut and the bushes and refit the new shock

Refit and repeat on the other side and thats the front done
At the rear things are easier still as Vw fitted these vans with independant rear suspension
Jack up the rear of the van remove the wheel and locate the bottom shock fixing point

Remove this bolt and the suspension arm should just swing down to release the spring

The top of the shock is held on here

Undo this bolt remove the old shock , refit the top of the new shock and replace the old spring with the shiny new lowered ones

Guide the bottom of the new damper into its housing as you pull the suspension arm upwards (make sure the spring stays located properly) Then fit the bottom damper fixing , repeat on the otherside and your done .

Much better and all done in 2 hours , yes i know it's not a ground scrapping stace but belive me its much lower than it was .
We are gonna give the van time to settle on its new springs and fit some new wheels before reajusting the front (just in case it rubs on the new alloys ).
Gotta be the 2nd easist vw in the world to lower .
